On October 1, 2007, Dr. Wayne Earnest assumed the position of Director of Music & Organist at First United Methodist Church in Ocala, Florida. From 1995 to 2007, he was Minister of Music at the historic (1772) Old Presbyterian Meeting House in Alexandria VA (near Washington DC) where he played the organ and directed a music ministry of choirs for children, youth, and adults as well as “Concerts with a Cause,” a benefit concert series which raised money for people in need. At Saint David Lutheran Church in West Columbia SC, 1986-1995, he was Director of Music Ministries and at Newberry College in Newberry SC, 1979-1986, he was a music professor. Also, in part-time positions, he has served in various denominations: Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), Interfaith, Roman Catholic, Unitarian, United Church of Christ, Lutheran, Methodist, and Presbyterian. His degrees are from the University of Cincinnati (doctorate), University of Michigan (master’s), and West Liberty State College (bachelor’s). He has concertized, lectured, and traveled in Belgium, England, France, Germany, Luxembourg, Scotland, Ukraine (of the former USSR) and various parts of the USA.
